AKC Inspectors - Beware of Imposters
Dear AKC Customer
The American Kennel Club (“AKC®”) received information from a
breeder in
your area indicating that an individual was attempting to
impersonate an
AKC Inspector to obtain access to their facility. Fortunately this
breeder, like many others, has an excellent relationship with their
Inspector and denied entry until they could confirm identity. After
calling their Inspector, they were able to confirm that the
purported
AKC Inspector was in fact an imposter.
In most cases AKC inspectors will notify you prior to arriving at
your
facility. Additionally, at the time of the inspection, all of the
AKC
Inspectors carry a photo identification card. The Inspector
will be
happy to present that card to you should you have any concerns that
the
individual is an AKC Inspectors.
If at any time you have concerns, whether after receiving a phone
call
to schedule an inspection or when an inspector arrives at your
location
please do not hesitate to call (919) 816-3629 and confirm that the
individual attempting to inspect your facility is in fact an AKC
field
agent.
Additional information regarding the AKC’s Inspection Program can be
found on the AKC website (www.AKC.org).
Yours truly,
